Virtual Internet PLC ("Virtual Internet" or the "Company")

Virtual Internet PLC announces that at a board meeting held
on 18 October 2000, the remuneration committee approved the
grant of options over 135,000 ordinary shares at an exercise
price of 25p (equivalent to the nominal value) to Jonathan
Wales under the Company's Long Term Incentive Plan.  The
options are exercisable on various dates between 30 November
2000 and 30 November 2009.

In addition the company received notification on 18 October
2000, for the purpose of Section 329 of the Companies Act
1985, that the trustee of the Virtual Internet plc Employee
Benefit Trust (the "EBT") has subscribed for 330,000 of the
Company's ordinary shares of 25 pence each at a subscription
price of 155p, being the closing mid-market price on the day
preceding the date of subscription. Each of the executive
directors are potential beneficiaries of the EBT, namely J
Drummond, T Turcan and J Wales. Following this transaction
the total shareholding of the EBT is 333,000 ordinary
shares.
