       UNILEVER SELLS LEVERTON UK OPERATIONS TO FINNING
                               
Unilever has completed the sale of its H Leverton Limited
subsidiary, which operates a UK dealership for Caterpillar
earth moving equipment, to Finning (UK) Ltd, the UK subsidiary
of  Finning International Inc, for a total consideration of
#50.7 million.

Based in Windsor, H Leverton sells the full range of
Caterpillar equipment and provides after-sales product support
service.  With annual sales totalling approximately #250
million, it employs some 800 people at branches in the north,
east and south-east of England.

The agreement with Finning follows Unilever's decision to
withdraw from the Leverton business.  Caterpillar subsequently
announced its intention to award Finning the UK dealership and
discussions between Unilever and Finning on the sale of H
Leverton were opened.

Finning International Inc, with headquarters in Vancouver, is
an international corporation with interests in Canada, the UK,
Poland and Chile and worldwide sales of some Cdn $1.90
billion.   Its UK operation, Finning (UK) Limited, is based in
Cannock and has been the Caterpillar dealer for the south
west, the Midlands and Scotland and Wales since 1983.

Separate discussions between Unilever and the privately owned
Egyptian Mansour Group on the sale of Leverton Export Ltd and
its African subsidiary companies, are continuing.
