Notice of record and distribution date

The Board of Directors of Gencor is pleased to announce that the Commissioner
of the South African Revenue Service has now approved the distribution by
Gencor of its holdings of listed shares in Gold Fields Limited ("GFL"), Gold
Fields of South Africa Limited ("GFSA") and Standard Bank Investment
Corporation Limited to shareholders of Gencor ("Gencor shareholders"), by way
of a dividend in specie, as an unbundling transaction in terms of section 60
of the Income Tax Act, 1993 (No. 113 of 1993), as amended. Accordingly, Gencor
shareholders are hereby advised that the date on which they must be registered
as such in order to participate in the distribution will now be 16:00 on
Friday, 14 April 2000, and that the distribution will take effect from Monday,
17 April 2000.

Gencor shareholders are referred to the GFSA announcement which appeared in
the press on Friday, 17 March 2000, regarding the proposed distribution 
by GFSA of its shareholdings in GFL and Northam Platinum Limited (the "GFSA
distribution"). According to a circular to shareholders of GFSA ("GFSA
shareholders") issued on Monday, 27 March 2000 (the "circular"), a general
meeting of GFSA shareholders will be held on Wednesday, 19 April 2000 in order
to approve, inter alia, the GFSA distribution and the scheduled record date
for the GFSA distribution is Friday, 28 April 2000. Copies of the circular
will be distributed to current Gencor shareholders on or about Friday, 7 April
2000, and copies of the circular will be available from the offices of GFSA,
Kenilworth House, 9 Rutherford Estate, 1 Scott Street, Waverly, Johannesburg,
Republic of South Africa and from St. James's Corporate Services, 6 St.
James's Place, London, SW1A 1NP, England.
