BOAO, China, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tencent Holdings Limited ("Tencent", SEHK: 00700), a leading provider of
comprehensive Internet services in China, today launched QQ Connect, a
platform that enables hardware developers and partners from various
sectors to connect with the large number of QQ users.
This marks a new era of the company's Open Platform strategy,
which evolves from opening up PC-based product resources, to mobile
apps, and now to a multiple-terminal phase that enables hardware
developers and partners from various sectors, not just the
Internet, to target the massive number of Internet users in
China.
With QQ Connect, QQ users can control a wide range of
hardware devices, such as a TV or a webcam, with just a few clicks
on their mobile phones. This demonstrates how Tencent enables people to connect with people,
with services, and with hardware devices, in innovative ways.
"We will continue to strive for innovation, and create
value for developers and our
users. The launch of QQ Connect demonstrates we are leading
the way into a new era of connecting developers and partners with
users," said Mr. Mark Ren, Chief
Operation Officer of Tencent at the
company's Global Partner Conference this year in Boao, Hainan.
Developers are thriving on the Open Platform which covers a wide
range of products including QQ, Qzone and Yingyongbao. The Open
Platform has also attracted developers from second- and third- tier
cities in China, such as
Wuhan and Tianjin. Since the launch of the Open Platform
in 2011, Tencent has continuously
demonstrated its commitment to supporting developers by giving access to
its distribution channels at a low cost, along with other
supporting initiatives such as offering consulting services and
incubation spaces.
This year's Tencent Global Partner
Conference sets the tone for the future technological development
of Internet products and explores solutions that maximize
opportunities brought about by the rising popularity of the mobile
Internet. More than 3,500 entrepreneurs, IT talent and developers
from around the world attended the conference. Tencent will continue to enhance its connectivity
on the Open Platform, creating a win-win ecosystem that connects
users with developers from various sectors, such as finance,
retail, education, and manufacturing.
