Alliant Energy Making Upgrades to Nevada Area Gas System $180,000
in Upgrades Planned to Strengthen Reliability of Natural Gas System
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant
Energy- Interstate Power and Light announces it is upgrading the
natural gas distribution facilities in Nevada beginning the week of
April 12. The project is part of a preventive maintenance effort to
replace natural gas mains and services to residential and
commercial customers to ensure continued safe and reliable natural
gas service. This project is part of Alliant Energy's
PowerPledge(TM) program, a commitment to invest $2 billion over a
five-year period in the company's utility infrastructure. (Logo:

project involves upgrading 135 residential and commercial services,
including 22,200 feet of gas main and service pipe. The work will
be completed in conjunction with Alliant Energy contractor,
InterCon Construction, Inc. "As with any construction project,
there will be a certain amount of disruption associated with this
upgrade," says Gary Brindle, lead construction specialist, Alliant
Energy. "Our customers tend to be very understanding when we are in
the area working to ensure reliable service, so we make a special
effort to minimize the impact our construction projects have on
them. The end result is worth it to both our customers and our
company." The work will be concentrated in the following areas in
Nevada; east of 10th Street, east of 15th Street, north of the
Railroad, and J Avenue on the north end. The upgrades are expected
