Trading Statement
The Longmead Group plc announces that it expects sales for the 15 months ending 2 November 2002 to be below
expectations due to lower retail demand and delays in customers taking new products into store. As a result, the
Company will make a loss for the 15 month period. However, the loss after exceptional items will be significantly lower
than the loss before tax reported for the year ended 28 July 2001.
Longmead announced, in June 2002, exceptional costs of approximately �100,000 arising from the closure of its Chard
factory. Further exceptional costs of approximately �40,000 are likely to be incurred as a result of the
