Kazatomprom and German Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH
entered into Memorandum on cooperation.
Mr.Vladimir Shkolnik, Chairman of the Board, NAC Kazatomprom JSC
is taking part in Kazakhstan-German Economic Forum "Impulses for
Economic Cooperation".
Representatives of industrial and financial sector of Germany
and Kazakhstan are participating in the Forum which is held today,
on May 24, 2011, in Berlin (Germany).
The Forum was opened by Mr. Philipp Rosler, Vice-Chancellor of
Germany, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology and Mr. Aset
Isekeshev, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New
Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Chairman of the Board of NAC Kazatomprom presented a paper on
priorities of Kazakhstan-German cooperation in new areas of
Kazatomprom's activity.
Vladimir Shkolnik told about innovations in resources' provision
of production of uranium and rare metals, introduced a new
technology of sulphuric acid production to the Forum
participants.
The report gave a significant attention to the advanced project
on processing of saline solution obtained as a result of water
demineralization at MAEK-Kazatomprom LLP. This trend shall become
one the important segments in development of chemical cluster based
in Aktau. Reprocessing of saline solutions of desalination plants
will result in getting a wide range of products, which are claimed
at gas and oil production facilities, mining and conversion
facilities. In particular, hydrogen peroxide, which is an essential
component in uranium and gold production process, shall become one
of such reagents.
In the framework of the Forum Kazatomprom and German
Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH signed the Memorandum, specifying
the terms of cooperation on establishment of joint
Kazakhstan-German global level innovations, breakthrough
technologies and new knowledge-intensive production facilities in
nuclear, chemical and metallurgical industries of Kazakhstan,
Germany and other countries.
The document defined 9 specific projects among which are the
following: construction of pilot facilities for production of
hydrogen chloride, sodium cyanide, chloride, calcium hypochlorite
and other chemical products.
The Memorandum is intended to form and systematize a competitive
market of technologies in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
NAC Kazatomprom is the national operator of the Republic of
Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals,
nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special purpose equipment,
technologies and double-use materials. The main activities of the
company are: geological exploration, uranium production,
manufacture of nuclear fuel cycle products, reactor construction,
nuclear power plants, production of construction materials, the
electric energy sector, scientific support of production and social
welfare and training of personnel. Today Kazatomprom has more than

experience, including construction of complex chemical plants on
