SEATTLE, July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - MicroPlanet, (TSXV:
MP & PINK: MCTYF) a provider of smart grid technology, which
significantly increases efficiency and conservation of electricity
announced today that it has received Underwriters Laboratories
("UL") certification for two of its next generation voltage
regulators. Additionally, the company has delivered its patented
technology devices to new utility and commercial customers.
UL Certification
The Company has received UL certification for two of its
commercial next generation voltage regulators. These regulators
include all of the enhancements, data, and communications features
the company has been working on the past year. UL certification is
required for commercial and residential installations on customer
premises in North America and
demonstrates that MicroPlanet technologies are designed and
manufactured with parts and processes that deliver maximum safety.
"The UL certifications we recently received are an important
milestone for MicroPlanet," commented Mr. Brett Ironside, President and CEO. "We have
added important products to our line and this opens the door to
meeting specific demands expressed by commercial customers. Until
this time other than prototype units we have not obtained these
certifications and sales were more R & D focused to only
government and utility customers managing their own infrastructure
and not requiring these certifications. We are continuing to work
on final development and certification for several other product
line extensions that will increase the scope of applications and
jurisdictions our technology can provide solutions for."
Product Shipment to New Customers
The Company also announces that in the second quarter ending
June 30, it shipped products to
several new utility and commercial customers. MicroPlanet has sold
and shipped second generation Low Voltage Regulators ("LVR2") to a
new Australian electric utility customer. The customer will utilize
the LVR2s to mitigate low voltage challenges in extreme rural
portions of its service area. This sale represents initiation of
diversification of LVR2 sales to offset the deferral of sales to
Ergon Energy. The Company has also shipped the just certified 400
Amp commercial unit with data and WIFI communications features as a
trial to a new commercial customer in Hawaii with significant retail deployment
opportunities. Mr. Ironside commented that, "Utilities and
commercial enterprises around the world are beginning to understand
and adopt voltage regulation as a cornerstone of their energy
conservation and power quality improvement strategies. We believe
the performance and benefits of our next generation technologies
are unmatched."
Finally, the Company shipped immediately after certification the
previously announced order of its next generation voltage
regulation units to a United States Department of Defense related
customer on the island of Guam.
"These units will be deployed in newly constructed multi-family
homes in Guam looking to define
"best practices" for future construction," Mr. Ironside explained.
"The extreme heat, expensive carbon based electricity, and volatile
power quality of Guam make it an
ideal location for our voltage regulation technology. The unmatched
speed, precision and efficiency of our next generation products
allow us to deliver important energy savings and environmental
benefits to our customer, as well as lengthen the operating lives
of their equipment as a result of significant improvements to power
quality." For the prior news release please look to
