       UNILEVER SELLS LEVERTON INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS

Unilever announced today the completion of the sale of the
Leverton Export group of companies to the privately-owned
Egyptian Mansour Group, in an assets and shares transaction.
Terms were not disclosed.

The Leverton Export group, based in Windsor, U.K., operates
franchises for the sale and product support of the full range
of Caterpillar equipment in east and west Africa.  The African-
based companies in the group comprise Tractor & Equipment
Limited in Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone, and Gailey &
Roberts Limited, in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.  The combined
sales of these activities are approximately #80 million and
together they have some 700 employees.

Mansour is one of Egypt's largest privately-held groups.  It
is already the Caterpillar dealer for Egypt.  Its other
interests include automotive assembly and distribution,
consumer products distribution, fast-food franchises, real
estate development, banking and financial services.

Last month Unilever completed the sale of its H
Leverton Limited subsidiary, which operated a UK dealership
for Caterpillar, to Finning (UK) Ltd, the UK subsidiary of
Finning International Inc, for a total consideration of #50.7
million.
