Distribution in anticipation of winding-up
The board of directors of GFSA has resolved to make a cash distribution of 825
cents per share, aggregating R941 121 926,25, to shareholders registered at
the close of business on Friday 14 July 2000. The distribution is being made
in anticipation of the proposed members' voluntary winding-up of GFSA in terms
of sections 349 and 350 of the Companies Act, 1973 (Act 61 of 1973), as
amended.

The distribution will be made by way of:
-  R366 827 817,99 from distributable reserves;
-  R87 498 595,55 from non-distributable reserves, which are of a capital
nature having arisen from the transfer of share premium in 1975; and 
-  R486 795 512,71 from the share premium account.

The distribution will be electronically transferred to shareholders' bank or
building society accounts on or about Friday 21 July 2000 or, where this
method of payment has not been previously mandated, cheques will be posted on
or about Friday 21 July 2000, at the risk of the shareholder concerned.
