Prices for U.S. wheat, soybeans and corn all surged Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade, as forecasts for continued dry weather in key areas of the Midwest crop belt raised concerns about yield prospects.

The latest weekly data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated 57% of the domestic corn crop and 51% of soybeans are dealing with drought conditions, up 12% from last week for both, as the trouble spreads in the Midwest and Plains.

Right on, thanks for replying.

I did the mid-summer swing, made some bux and stepped off. I haven't had the time to follow this commodity as intensively as I would need to to do it right. Its still on my radar, but I'm not actively playing with soybeans at this moment.

Looks like the profit take that I did was right. Still watcvhing for a good opportunity for back in.

I saw a report last weekend which indicated that Brazil was getting a good soybean crop this year, so I sold out my position in SOYB this week. Made a decent profit. Will keep watching to see the next in/out opportunity.

With the current drought, some of the commodity funds may be a good place to be. Time will tell.
