OXFORD INSTRUMENTS PLC - SHAREHOLDING NOTIFICATION

In accordance with Sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended by
the Companies Act 1989 and the Disclosure of Interests in Shares (Amendments)
Regulations 1993), we have been notified that as a result of a change in the
registered holder, the 3i Group's interests in the shares of Oxford
Instruments plc are as specified below:

The notifiable interests of 3i Group plc are in the total number 1,785,000
Ordinary Shares of #0.05p each referred to below.

The registered holders and beneficial owners of these shares are:
