Business Wire
Intermap Technologies today announced an agreement with GIOVE
Srl, a company headquartered in Italy that specializes in
infomobility software, to supply the Company๏ฟฝs new line of
elevation shaded image (ESI) products and AccuTerra Europe contour
data to GIOVE in support of their MyNav portable navigation
device.
Intermap๏ฟฝs elevation shaded image (ESI) combines high-resolution
optical images with the high-resolution texture of the Company๏ฟฝs
NEXTMap digital elevation data, which provides the recreational
user with the best visualization available for topography and
actual terrain features. The ESI also enhances the user experience
by helping them to quickly identify landscape characteristics at a
glance. Intermap will initially supply ESI products for Germany,
which will be integrated into MyNav with GIOVE๏ฟฝs extensive routable
trail network in recreation areas throughout the country.
GIOVE customers can purchase feature-rich ESI in region-specific
bundles starting with Germany, with GIOVE๏ฟฝs comprehensive routable
trail data and points-of-interest draped over the 3D-like
foundational image. The new data bundles are compatible with the
MyNav GPS devices, thus giving users a completely new outdoor GPS
experience.
๏ฟฝThis partnership with GIOVE will provide their customers the
benefit of this fundamental shift in the GPS content market,๏ฟฝ
stated Michael E. Bullock, Intermap๏ฟฝs vice president of consumer
electronics. ๏ฟฝIntermap๏ฟฝs AccuTerra Europe contour data, based on
our NEXTMap digital mapping program for all of Western Europe,
combined with the introduction of our ESI products, will greatly
enhance the outdoor recreation experience.๏ฟฝ
๏ฟฝTo take up the challenge of its important market of
outdoor-assisted navigation, GIOVE identified Intermap as the right
partner to improve and highlight MyNav๏ฟฝs unique outdoor navigation
engine by combining the Intermap high-quality ESI with the GIOVE
`turn by turn' outdoor network,๏ฟฝ declared Adriano Scardellato,
GIOVE C.E.O. ๏ฟฝGermany is only the first step; we believe Intermap
and GIOVE have laid a stone of a lasting worldwide
partnership.๏ฟฝ
The ESI product will be displayed at GIOVE๏ฟฝs booth (Hall A1,
booth 209) at the OutDoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany (July
16-19).
