SHARE HOLDING IN COMPANY - Capital Group Increases Interest to 7.5%


AuIron Energy Limited ("the Company") is pleased to note advice received on 12
July 2001 that on 6 July 2001 Capital Group Companies Inc of the USA, acquired
5,290,580 additional AuIron shares.  Following this acquisition, Capital Group
has an interest in 19,620,000 shares, representing 7.51% of the Company's
issued ordinary share capital as at 6 July 2001 and prior to the completion of
the Company's recent rights offer.

The Company has been advised that Ausmelt Limited disposed of 5,218,333
ordinary shares in the Company.  Following this disposal, Ausmelt Limited
retains 24,781,667 shares representing 9.48% of the Company's issued ordinary
share capital prior to completion of the rights offer.
