Half of all Netflix Inc. (NFLX) users watch movies and TV shows
on the service via game console -- either the Xbox, the Wii or
PlayStation 3 -- according to a new study by Nielsen Co.
The study also found that 89% of Hulu users watch directly on
their computers, while only 42% of Netflix customers watch that
way. Some 20% of Netflix users stream video by connecting their
computer to the TV, while about 14% of Hulu viewers do the
same.
In terms of content, Hulu users tend to favor TV shows, with
about 73% of respondents to Nielsen's survey reporting that
preference. Only 9% of Hulu users say they primarily watch movies
on that service, while 53% of Netflix viewers prefer to see
films.
