Artist International's Jon Amiel has signed on to direct "Undying" (formerly known as "Reaper"), a supernatural thriller starring Kurt Russell. Written by Gary Whitta (writer of Warner Bros' recent hit film "Book of Eli"), the film tells the tale of Virgil Lone (Russell), a private investigator who finds himself immersed in a surreal underworld, where the boundaries of life and death, and right and wrong, are blurred. This is Amiel's first project for Artist International since he transitioned to the company following their acquisition of Sleeping Giant Entertainment and its principal, CEO Dave Brown. Artist International is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hollywood Studios International (PINKSHEETS: HYWS).

A world-renowned director of film and television, Amiel's decision to helm "Undying" places him back in familiar territory -- back on the set of an action-packed thriller. "I'm truly excited to be involved with this project," Amiel said. "'Undying' is a wondrously original movie -- part gumshoe noir, part supernatural thriller -- it manages to combine richly detailed and real characters with all the wild, dark visuals of a graphic novel. Kurt Russell as Virgil Lone will be extraordinary I think. He's an actor who's widely loved and widely admired for two obvious reasons -- he's a really good guy and he's a very fine actor!"

Previously, Amiel directed the thrillers "Copycat," starring Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter, and "Entrapment," starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Most recently, Amiel shifted gears to direct last year's Charles Darwin biopic, "Creation," starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly. With several comedies, musicals and romantic dramas to his credit, he is also highly regarded for the period drama "Sommersby," starring Jodie Foster and Richard Gere.

A stylish neo-noir in the vein of "Blade Runner" and "Seven," production for the film is set to begin in the fall. The film is being produced by Media 8 Entertainment along with Los Angeles-based production company Circle of Confusion, and financing along with Cynthia Stafford's Queen Nefertari Productions.
