American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), the innovator and distributor of the Long Range Acoustic Device(TM) (LRAD®) product line, announced today its LRAD systems were successfully deployed last week by Pittsburgh law enforcement agencies to support their peacekeeping efforts at the G20 summit.

LRAD directed sound products and systems enable law enforcement and security forces to communicate clearly at safe distances, providing focused acoustic output to intelligibly transmit critical information, instructions and warnings at distances of 300 to 3,000 meters. LRAD creates increased stand off and safety zones, supports resolution of uncertain situations, and potentially prevents the use of deadly force.

While LRAD can broadcast very loudly (up to 152dB at one meter in front of the device), law enforcement personnel have full control of the audio output through a prominently positioned volume control knob. LRAD's broadcasts can be easily and quickly adjusted based on situational use.

The following link contains highlights of a recent San Diego County Sheriff's Department press conference demonstrating and describing their use of LRAD to clearly communicate at public events and their intention to use it in search and rescue operations in difficult terrain:

"We believe LRAD's unique capacity to communicate instructions clearly and effectively over distance, to resolve uncertain situations peacefully, and to potentially prevent injury and even save lives on both sides of the device without resorting to the use of non-lethal or lethal weapons, is an important new capability to support law enforcement in their vital emergency responder and peacekeeping duties," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of ATC.
