Doc. As of April 2025, there is no public record of former President Donald Trump explicitly prohibiting Chinese AI workloads from being processed in Japan. However, his administration has taken steps to tighten controls on China’s access to advanced AI technologies, including efforts to coordinate with allies like Japan to restrict China’s semiconductor capabilities. ?
In February 2025, Trump officials met with Japanese and Dutch counterparts to discuss limiting the maintenance of semiconductor equipment in China by companies such as Tokyo Electron and ASML. These discussions aim to align allied export controls with U.S. policies to curb China’s technological advancements . ?
Additionally, the administration is reviewing and potentially tightening the AI diffusion rule introduced during the Biden administration. This rule categorizes countries into tiers regarding access to U.S. AI technology, with China facing the strictest export bans. The Trump administration is considering further reducing the amount of AI computing power that can be exported without a license . ?
While these measures indicate a broader strategy to limit China’s access to AI technologies, there is no specific evidence of a directive targeting Chinese AI workloads in Japan.

You whine, complain and criticize the chaos., failing to realize that It takes serious action to fix long-standing problems, that others declined to address.
Were you ok with the chaos and challenges of the 1960s, which brought about positive changes during the civil rights movement?
How about the chaos and resulting changes in the late 1980s, when the Berlin Wall came down? That was messy and chaotic.
The administrations during those tumultuos days suffered similar criticisms, from small thinkers during those times.
In order to correct years of inequality (trade, civil rights and communism), systems need to be upended. That isn't always neat and orderly.
Sometimes, positive changes necessitate chaos, for long-standing improvements in society.
Your short sighted comments show that you aren't a student of history.

Thought some more about your comments about the globalists. You certainly are correct that the open criticism of the US and America last policies started under obama/biden.
However, the actual foundation for the globalist policies was started under bush41 and clinton with NAFTA, outsourcing jobs and thereby crushing manufacturing and sending the wealth and innovation overseas.
Then bush 43 comes in and keeps saying we cant do it alone, pushing us toward all of these global alliances.
More recently, the world sat idly by while houthi rebels/pirates robbed and attacked ships disrupting world shipping lanes. Then the new administration came in and took care of that problem. Surprise...we can do it alone!
Hopefully, IONQ develops into a quantum powerhouse and gives the US an edge with technology. It sure seems like it is headed in that direction.

IonQ leaders and partners ring bell in observance of World Quantum Day 2024
World Quantum Day is an annual global celebration that promotes awareness and recognition of quantum sciences. Now in its fourth year, this observance brings together researchers, educators and industry innovators to spotlight the growing impact of quantum technologies on society.
Celebrating World Quantum Day Globally
On April 14, IonQ CEO, Niccolo de Masi, will ring the closing bell at the NYSE in New York City, bringing together IonQ application scientists, company customers, partners and collaborators to highlight quantum’s acceleration across key industries.
Simultaneously, IonQ Executive Chairman, Peter Chapman, will lead a delegation in Japan and will continue on to South Korea later in the week. Both visits serve to underscore IonQ’s growing presence in Asia, and reinforce the company’s commitment to advancing quantum computing globally.
A Year of Quantum Milestones
“As we observe World Quantum Day, we’re excited about the growth of our quantum computing and networking business and the number of applications we are working on that showcase superior results when combining our quantum computers with classical high performance computing,” said Niccolo de Masi, President and CEO, IonQ. “Over the past year, we exceeded the high end of our bookings guidance range and grew our global presence with the delivery of IonQ Forte Enterprise in Switzerland and through new partnerships around the world. These efforts are pushing the boundaries of what's possible and paving the way for new quantum applications that solve real-world problems.”
IonQ’s notable achievements over the past year reflect continued progress against its technical roadmap and strategic business goals, including:
Demonstrating breakthrough use cases showcasing quantum acceleration: In collaboration with Ansys, a leader in the Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) industry, IonQ demonstrated that pre-processing data using quantum technology before using it to perform simulations using Ansys’ LS-DYNA applications improved simulation processing speed by up to 12% compared to classical computing, and that speed-up is expected to increase with IonQ’s future systems.
Expanding into quantum networking: IonQ strengthened its position in quantum networking by securing a controlling stake of ID Quantique (IDQ), a global leader in quantum safe networking and sensing and acquiring Qubitekk in 2024.
Growing an impressive patent portfolio: IonQ now owns or controls over 930 patents for both quantum computing and networking related technologies.
Securing multiple quantum computing and networking contracts: IonQ landed contracts that include the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS), as well as the University of Maryland.
Accelerating quantum computing adoption with partners: IonQ announced its support of the State of Maryland’s “Capital of Quantum” initiative and committed its intention to anchoring a state-of-the-art quantum intelligence campus based at the University of Maryland at College Park. The company also announced the successful commissioning and global availability of IonQForte Enterprise quantum computer, with #AQ36 performance, located at uptownBasel campus in Arlesheim, Switzerland.
Pioneering scalable quantum error correction: IonQ unveiled a novel, efficient approach to quantum error correction that enables fault-tolerant logical qubits using significantly fewer physical qubits—setting the stage for scalable, reliable quantum computing.
These developments reinforce IonQ's leadership in enterprise-grade quantum systems for real-world applications.

Fast two-qubit gates on a trapped-ion quantum computer
Patent number: 12265884
Abstract: A method for performing an entangling operation between trapped ions in a quantum computer includes selecting an amount of infidelity that is allowed in an entangling operation between two trapped ions in a quantum computer, computing a pulse function of a pulse to be applied to each of the two trapped ions based on gate operation conditions and the selected amount of infidelity, generating the pulse based on the computed pulse function, and applying the generated pulse to each of the two trapped ions to perform the entangling operation between the two trapped ions.
Type: Grant
Filed: September 1, 2021
Date of Patent: April 1, 2025
Assignee: IONQ, INC.
Inventors: Reinhold Blumel, Nikodem Grzesiak, Ming Li, Andrii Maksymov, Yunseong Nam
so, it would seem you could use the software defined quantum computer patent, take two entangled trapped-ion s, with the selection of an mount of infidelity allowed in the entangling operation, logi gate operations, and then each of them know what the other party is up to? two way communications via teleportation?
now add the demo of the photonic communications between two such components in a regular fiberoptic channel of 30 kilometers distance. just the application in a tennis match for out of bounds of the ibm ilk would be huge. wags. want fast trading in the age of ai? this would 'trump' the ai without quantum? wags

this tariff crisis might be / is the perfect test of how quantum /supercomputing ai can be used to help a company/country save and make money in any situation in the business environment.
not the old business school application of a case study, but if you want all of business history, your own company, your adversary's history and helping you determine best course of action. given we think we know trump's history, he's not going to give up . given what we know the chinese economy and people will tolerate, you can make an educated choice. given they've got deepseek, it shouldn't take long.
on the other side trump has the full breadth of openai/nvidia cuda-q/full brute force llm and potential use of other inference tools like history of networking/dynamic routing, authentication work done by your adversary and your self to determine the most potential inference choice/answer.
trump says each negotiation is a separate item.....likely he's got each discussion both separate and part of the whole. my wags , anyway.
elon yells at trump finance guy. establishes he doesn't like tariffs. more wiggle room for the administration.
