$GME is making money on that $4.8 billion in their coffers~! AND they haven't even made any announcements as to acquisitions/mergers or anything.

So, for now look at the money on their balance sheet as revenue generating. Smart move IMO.

I like tangible assets like precious metals, but that's me.

It's not a "dumb ass" Company. RC has to make decisions based on what is best for the Company going forward.

This is a non-event IMO. No cash will be utilized from current cash holdings. This goes out to 2030, and the Company has the choice on whether to pay out the balance in Cash or Shares or both a mix of cash and shares.

Just an excuse to bring the share price down. We'll see how long this lasts.

It was pretty interesting. The bottom line is that the market does not like this development, with GME shares -18% right now here today.

I must admit that I am perplexed at what their logic and strategy is here. This seems batshit crazy to me. The only guess that comes to mind is they know of some government plan that will boost BTC. Interestingly, I am fairly certain that insider trading rules do not apply to crypto because it is not a security (at least BTC is not one). 

This language in GME's announcement of the offering is quite curious. It states the notes will not carry regular interest, and there will no accretion in the principal amount of the notes. The bonds will be priced on a date to be determined.
"The notes will be general unsecured obligations of GameStop, will not bear regular interest and the principal amount of the notes will not accrete," according to the statement.

Upon conversion, GameStop will pay or deliver cash, Class A common stock or a combination of cash and stock at its election, according to the statement.

The severe drop is due to the PR after hours yesterday that GME is issuing $1.3 Billion in convertible debt in order to buy Bitcoin. That could eventually be significantly dilutive to GME shares. The real question is, why would they do this when GME has over $4.7 Billion in cash on the balance sheet?

Validation and bond final documents and SEC filing should happen today or tomorrow

IMO as they already have a few investors waiting before they dropped the announcement and PR
