OXFORD INSTRUMENTS PLC - SHAREHOLDING NOTIFICATION

In accordance with S202 of Companies Act 1985, we have been notified today, 17
December 1998 that as a result of a change in registration details the
interest of BBC Pension Trust Limited in the share capital of Oxford
Instruments plc has been re-registered effective from 23 November 1998 as
follows:

1,569,600 Ordinary shares of #0.05p each previously held in the name of MSTC
Nominees Limited A/c CRT00742 are now registered in the name of Chase Nominees
Limited.

There has been no change in beneficial ownership.
