                  The Mayflower Corporation plc ("Mayflower")

                         Appointment of Administrators

The Board of Mayflower announces that Administrators have today beenappointed
to The Mayflower Corporation plc and to three of its UK subsidiaries, namely
Mayflower Vehicle Systems plc, which operates the UK automotive business,
Transbus International Limited, the UK bus building business, and the group's
management services company.

Other operating subsidiaries, which have not gone into insolvency, include
Mayflower Energy Ltd and the group's overseas automotive systems operations in
the USA and Germany.

The Board expects that the Administrators will make a further announcement later
today.
