In response to the worst wildfire season in Colorado history, The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU) today announced an expansion in disaster-aid efforts to support the communities in Colorado impacted by the fires.

Western Union is enabling Colorado residents to give to the Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012 as part of a “no transfer fee” program using Western Union® Quick Collect® service at King Soopers, City Market, Safeway and any other Western Union Agent locations across the state. The Western Union Foundation will match consumer contributions up to $50,000. Consumers need to complete the blue form, using “COLORADO WILDFIRE DONATIONS” as the Pay To recipient, and “WILDFIRE, CO” as the Code City and State. This consumer giving option will be available through Saturday, August 4, 2012.

Western Union previously announced that The Western Union Foundation committed to matching designated employee contributions up to $50,000 to benefit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012 to maximize employee giving efforts. Employees and others can give online at www.westernunionfoundation.org.

“The impact of the Colorado wildfires in our communities has been devastating,” said Luella Chavez D'Angelo, senior vice president, Western Union Social Ventures and president, Western Union Foundation. “We are looking to leverage our Agent and consumer relationships, our compassionate employees and the resources of The Western Union Foundation to help the communities where we live, work and serve. We want to thank King Soopers, City Market and Safeway for joining us as we work with residents across Colorado, Governor John Hickenlooper, and the Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012 during this time of need in our state.”

The Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012, first announced by Governor John Hickenlooper, benefits Colorado communities impacted by wildfires in 2012. These funds will be administered and distributed by a committee of community foundation executives appointed by the governor.
