Marsh & McLennan Cos. (MMC) has named J. Michael Bischoff as
its chief financial officer, making permanent a role he has held at
the insurance brokerage on an interim basis since March.
Before becoming the company's interim finance chief, Mr.
Bischoff had held led and directed the company's corporate
development, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and investor
relations functions. He joined the company in 1982.
The decision followed a thorough search and reflects Mr.
Bischoff's deep experience and ability to create shareholder value,
said Chief Executive Brian Duperreault.
Marsh & McLennan's previous CFO, Vanessa Wittman, left the
company to join Google Inc. (GOOG), where she became chief
financial officer of Motorola Mobility after Google's acquisition
of the mobile phone maker earlier this year.
Marsh & McLennan said last month that its second-quarter
profit surged 17% as it saw revenue gains in its consulting and
risk and insurance divisions.
Shares closed at $34.11 on Tuesday and were inactive after
hours. The stock is up 7.9% so far this year.
