The bank is also making its AmSouth Lifeline Line of Credit (LOC), a $10,000 unsecured line of credit, available to qualified customers severely impacted by the hurricane. The AmSouth Lifeline LOC will allow payments of interest- only for the first year and can assist customers with temporary cash needs. Customers needing the AmSouth Lifeline can call 888-In A Snap (888-462-7627) Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, Saturday, 8 am to 1 pm. AmSouth credit card customers in the areas deemed a natural disaster area by FEMA will also automatically receive a 60-day payment holiday. Credit card customers should contact (800) 362-6299 for consumer cards and (800) 892-3219 for business cards to request emergency line increases, alternative payment arrangements, overrides and other services. Calls from credit card customers in the natural disaster area will be given priority handling. In all cases, interest on accounts will continue to accrue and payments will be applied in the normal fashion. AmSouth also recognizes that circumstances such as those caused by Hurricane Katrina can result in unintended situations where customers may find their accounts overdrawn. The bank encourages its customers to contact AmSouth to discuss those situations. AmSouth continues to respond to the needs of all residents impacted by Hurricane Katrina by waiving its ATM fee for customers using other banks' ATMs in the affected areas. Except for branches in the hardest hit areas, AmSouth continues to open more of its branches in the impacted areas daily.
