WALTHAM, Mass., March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc.
(NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the signing of a turnkey
installation contract for two InVerde® Ultra, INV-100,
combined heat and power (CHP) systems to an Upper West Side Co-op
Building in NYC. The two Tecogen units will provide
electricity and domestic hot water to all 543 units in the 28 floor
building. The units are replacing an existing decommissioned
cogeneration system that did not provide emergency backup power.
The Tecogen system provides the building with emergency stand-by
power when grid power is lost.
Tecogen's system is expected to reduce yearly energy costs by
over $300,000 per year while
significantly reducing criteria pollutants that contribute to smog.
The new system is estimated to reduce the carbon output attributed
to the residence by over 1,100 tons of CO2 per year, the
equivalent of taking over 180 cars off the road.
"This project is a perfect example of our strategy for growing
Tecogen's target market in New York
City," said Robert Panora,
President and COO of Tecogen. "Turnkey installations result in
long-term robust service revenues. The economic savings,
black-start capability, and unique environmental benefits of the
InVerde units make Tecogen a clear choice for customers in large
urban areas."
This building has entered into a long-term maintenance
contract with Tecogen.
