(NASDAQ:PCIS), a leader in the development and marketing of healthcare savings programs and services, today announced summary results of its Care Entree discount medical program. This is the first report of its kind to be published by a medical discount provider organization and comes at a time when the public is grappling with rising healthcare costs, the increasing number of uninsured and underinsured, and the growing trend of high-deductible health insurance plans. "With pricing transparency in healthcare, especially physicians, labs and hospital pricing, becoming more prevalent in the news, we believe it is time to let our success in achieving savings for our members be known. This data highlights that -- over a fifteen-month period, our discount medical program has saved members approximately $5.7 million on doctor services and lab tests, representing an overall savings of approximately forty-seven percent off the full price for these medical procedures. Care Entree offers discounts on healthcare services to persons who are uninsured, underinsured, or who have elected to purchase only high-deductible or limited benefit medical insurance policies. Its non-insurance programs provide its members access to the same discounted rates preferred provider organizations (PPOs) utilize with many insurance companies and employers who self-fund at least a portion of their employees' healthcare risk. Members typically pay Care Entree a monthly fee for membership, and can cancel their membership at anytime. This report, which is anonymous and HIPAA compliant, contains 166,125 repricing transactions recorded between September of 2004 and December of 2005. It uses the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT(R)), which is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association, commonly referred to as CPT codes. The report captured 98 CPT codes that, among others, included: * Physician services * Physical and occupational therapy services * Radiological procedures * Clinical laboratory tests * Other medical diagnostic procedures The Company noted that there is a distinction between Care Entree and other discount medical programs in that Care Entree members may establish Personal Medical Accounts (PMAs). These are savings accounts that are set up specifically to help the member pay the medical provider at the time of service. The accounts also help assure providers of prompt payment. Care Entree does not control the PMA funds, other than to disburse these funds as directed by each member.
