The European Commission Wednesday said it has cleared Australia's Ramsay Health Care Ltd. (RHC.AU) and Credit Agricole SA (ACA.FR) unit Predica to buy French private hospital operator Groupe Proclif SAS.

Proclif manages nine acute hospitals in the greater Paris region with approximately 1,000 beds and day places. It recorded turnover of around EUR133 million in 2009, Ramsay Health Care said.

Ramsay will own 57% of Proclif. It is paying EUR87 million for the stake which it is indirectly buying from buyout firm Duke Street Capital.

Predica already owns the remaining 43% stake in Proclif, having bought it from Duke Street Capital last year.
