Psychedelics are very safe drugs. A long term remission in treatment resistant major depression is a highly valuable and rare benefit to achieve for these patients.

On occasion there are reported cases of a psychosis induced, usually when that happens it is on very large doses of psychedelics perhaps combined with a non supportive environment.

Psilocybin causes fewer of these outcomes I have heard and is perhaps a less intense experience. Psilocybin is known to be a shorter acting psychedelic than LSD is.

Sedatives such as Valium or Xanax should be available if needed or desired at the end of the session in my opinion. Otherwise the process of coming down from the peak experience can be a drawn out and somewhat unpleasant process.

The clinical study for Treatment Resistant Major Depression looked very successful. Can a psychiatrist prescribe this patented psilocybin similar to how cannabis is illegal but medical doctors recommend it’s use legally for medical dispensaries?

How are they able to patent a known plant chemical? They claim to have a patented form of psilocybin.
