 Oxford Instruments plc completes the purchase of the business
            of Auburn International Inc, ("Auburn")

Oxford Instruments plc, the advanced instrumentation company,
announced today that it has been successful in its bid to
purchase the business of Auburn International Inc.  The $4.5
million cash offer was approved by the United States
Bankruptcy Court in Boston, Massachusetts on April 13th.

Auburn's Magneflow and Correflow on-line industrial
measurement products will be absorbed into the Oxford
Instruments Industrial Analysis business in Abingdon, UK and
Concord, Massachusetts, USA.

This addition fits naturally with the strategy of the
Industrial Analysis business.  In the future the global
distribution and customer support strength of Oxford
Instruments will facilitate the growth of the business.
