    Further to Mechel's announcement on 17 April 2008 regarding its intention to exercise its rights pursuant to the provisions of section
979 to 982 (inclusive) of the Companies Act 2006 to acquire compulsorily all remaining Oriel Shares to which the Offer relates in respect of
which it has not received valid acceptances or which it has not otherwise acquired on the same terms as the Offer, Mechel announces the
dispatch today of compulsory acquisition notices to Oriel Shareholders who have not accepted the Offer.

    The Offer will remain open for acceptance until further notice and remains subject to the terms set out in the Offer Document.  

    Terms used in this announcement shall have the meaning given to them in the Offer Document, unless the context requires otherwise.
