Cleanfield Energy๏ฟฝ ("Cleanfield") (TSX VENTURE: AIR), an
international leader in Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT)
technology and solutions, announced that it has signed an agreement
to supply ten customized 3.5kW VAWTs.
The turbines will be installed on the top of a new office
building located in Houston, Texas. Gensler, a leading global
architecture, design, planning and consulting firm, is the
building's architect and has aesthetically integrated Cleanfield's
leading wind energy collection solution to create a functioning
architectural showpiece that is expected to be one of the most
recognized buildings in Houston.
"This agreement is significant because it reaffirms Cleanfield's
leadership position in the small wind industry and the fast
emergence of VAWTs as a versatile distributed energy resource. This
installation also further highlights Cleanfield's ability to
customize and integrate its technology into buildings such as those
seeking LEED๏ฟฝ certification," said Tony Verrelli, CEO of Cleanfield
Energy. The ten 3.5kW turbines are scheduled to be installed in the
beginning of 2010.
As part of U.S. President Obama's renewable energy initiatives
in the recent American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, small wind
turbines are now eligible for a 30% uncapped investment tax credit
(ITC) or grant on the total installed cost of wind turbine systems.
In addition, many states offer additional local incentives for
installation of small wind systems and/or incentives for the energy
generated by wind systems. With UL certifications now in place,
Cleanfield will pursue grid-tied wind turbine systems in the
quickly emerging urban and industrial markets in the United
States.
"With UL certification for both our proprietary inverter
technology and custom permanent magnet generator, and US Federal
government incentives now in place, Cleanfield Energy's field
proven V3.5 VAWT system is now well positioned to be the leading
choice for small wind technology in the United States" said Tony
Verrelli, CEO of Cleanfield Energy. Mr. Verrelli continued, "Given
their virtual silent operation along with their versatility of
being rooftop or monopole mountable, we expect to see many
applications for our VAWT in the quickly growing American
market."
