Intel (INTC) announced it's appointing Lip-Bu Tan as its new CEO. The chip industry veteran, who previously helmed Cadence Design Systems, takes over from interim Co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus. The duo succeeded former CEO Pat Gelsinger who was ousted by Intel's board in late 2024.

If they had anything to do with the new quantum chip announced by MSFT, it was not made public. But I do think that the Trump admin would want these chips to be produced in the US, and no where else.

They spent a lot of money to build out a future. When they cut the dividend, I imagine a large contingent of retired investors sold, driving the stock price even lower. There is always an ebb and flow within the tech industry, as the dominant player gets overtaken by another (NVDA), then competition drives the underdog to innovate, disappear, or to be absorbed by another behemoth. Despite all of the rumors, I don't believe any of the big players want to take on Intel's debt.

Given the deep seek market disruption, Intel's Hala Point will be the go to for AI efficiency improvement. The phoenix will rise from the ashes to be come a dominant player in the AI market in the near term. Hala Point AI $INTC Long and strong!!!

The fake news is TSMC N7 meets the definition of a 7nm process. It is pretty close to what was originally defined for a 10nm process though.

Once the world’s dominant chipmaker, Intel has struggled in recent years to keep up in a competitive and fast-changing industry. Last month, Chief Executive Officer Pat Gelsinger was forced out after the board lost confidence in his plans to turn around the iconic company. Its shares fell 60% last year, valuing the company at about $85 billion now.

SemiAccurate said the “mystery company has the resources to pull it off.”
