Tanzania drilling update
Aminex PLC, the oil and gas company listed in London and Dublin, announces the
following progress on its Tanzania drilling project.
The Nyuni-1 exploration well, spudded on 26 September and currently drilling at
Nyuni Island, offshore Tanzania, has made good progress to date. The third
surface casing, 18.5/8", has been set at 450 metres subsea and the drilling crew
is currently installing full blowout prevention equipment prior to drilling the
next section of the well. The next casing, 13.5/8", is planned to be run to
approximately 633 metres subsea, immediately above the well's secondary target
in the Eocene formation.
The primary target for this well is the Neocomian formation, which is the
reservoir formation in the adjacent Songo Songo gas field. This formation is
expected to be encountered at approximately 2,350 metres subsea. The secondary
shallower targets include Tertiary Eocene sandstones and limestones. Total
depth of the well is planned to be approximately 3,000 metres subsea and is
expected to be reached in December.
Nyuni-1 is the first of two sequential wells being drilled on the Nyuni offshore
licence using an F200 land rig owned by Dafora Drilling of Romania and operating
from small islands. The second well, Okuza-1, will test a separate but adjacent
structure and will be drilled from Okuza Island.
The operator is Ndovu Resources Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aminex PLC.
Partners in the drilling programme are Bounty Oil & Gas NL and Petrom SA.
