PR Newswire (US)
HUNT VALLEY, Md., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United
Industrial Corporation (NYSE:UIC) announced today that its
wholly-owned subsidiary AAI Services Corporation has received a
$6.9 million award to upgrade the U.S. Air Force's T-25 Simulator
for Electronic Training (SECT) system. AAI Services will design,
manufacture, and test the updated system to provide student
electronic warfare officers with an enhanced, comprehensive,
electronic environment for primary and mission-level electronic
warfare training. The award was issued through the U.S. Air Force
Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The SECT
system is installed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio,
Texas. "Electronic combat training for air crews has long been a
top priority of the Air Force," noted Paul Lavin, president of AAI
Services, "and AAI has been delivering advanced, high technology
hardware, simulation software, and logistics support for nearly 30
years. We're proud that we've been selected to continue this vital
mission support for SECT." Under the award, AAI Services will
update the system's student stations and instructor stations, add a
new development station to the existing Trainer Software Support
Center, and re-host the existing computer system. Updates will
include radar, weather simulation, airfield operations, and terrain
modifications. SECT is a software-based training aid hosted on
commercial, off-the-shelf personal computers. Students use
interactive combat laboratory exercises as well as simulated
training missions. AAI Corporation designed and developed the
original SECT system for the U.S. Air Force in the 1990s, replacing
the AAI-developed Simulator for Electronic Warfare Training (SEWT),
which had been in operation since the 1970s. AAI Services
Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AAI Corporation, which
is a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Industrial Corporation.
