Wi-Lan Inc. (WIN.T, WILN) Tuesday said it settled patent lawsuit
with Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ), bringing an end to case initiated
in 2011.
Under the agreement, H-P was granted a license related to
certain of its products and Wi-Lan patents. Financial terms of the
settlement were not disclosed.
Wi-Lan, a patent-licensing firm, sued H-P, Apple Inc. (AAPL),
Alcatel-Lucent (ALU, ALU.FR) and Dell Inc. (DELL) in 2011 over
alleged patent infringement related to mobile communications
technology.
HTC Corp. (2498.TW) and Sierra Wireless Inc. (SW.T, SWIR), which
were also defendants in the suit, reached settlements with Wi-Lan
in September and earlier this month, respectively.
The trial had been scheduled to begin this month, according to a
press release from Wi-Lan earlier this year.
Wi-Lan shares were inactive premarket at $4.14. The stock is up
31% since mid-July.
