Boral Ltd. (BLD.AU) said Wednesday it has appointed Mark Selway, the head of U.K.-based engineering business Weir Group PLC, as its new chief executive, effective Jan. 1.

The building materials company's outgoing chief Rod Pearce will work with Selway to ensure a smooth transition, Boral said in a statement.

Selway has spent eight years in charge of the Weir Group, which provides engineering equipment for the upstream energy, mining and power sectors and has an annual turnover of around A$3 billion.
