Willtek Communications, a unit of Wireless Telecom Group, Inc., announced its TD-SCDMA call mode capability on its flagship 4400 Mobile Phone Tester Series, in support of China๏ฟฝs planned 3G deployment. The inclusion of this capability makes the Willtek 4400 the industry๏ฟฝs first mobile phone tester that integrates all of the standard 3G technologies, including UMTS/WCDMA, CDMA2000/1xEVDO, and TD-SCDMA. The product also supports the standard 2G technologies of both GSM/GPRS/EDGE and cdmaOne. Being displayed this week at the ITU Telecom World 2006 exhibition in Hong Kong, the Willtek 4400 allows mobile handset designers and manufacturers to efficiently test mobile phones of various standards in the same test environment. This is especially important in a dynamic market like China where each of the previously mentioned 2G and 3G technologies is expected to be offered by Service Providers, and mobile phones for each of the technologies will be manufactured. It is even more important at the beginning of a market introduction cycle, such as in the case of the China 3G roll-out, where the handset volumes in the new technologies will not always demand dedicated testing capabilities. With the Willtek 4400, a manufacturer can utilize the test capabilities for their high-volume GSM or CDMA lines, while then sharing capacity as required for WCDMA, CDMA2000, and TD-SCDMA, all through software. Monty Johnson, CEO of Wireless Telecom Group, Inc., stated, ๏ฟฝThe Chinese market is a strategic focus for the Wireless Telecom Group as a whole due to the tremendous wireless growth expected in the region. We are now proud to be supporting the Chinese wireless 3G initiative with the introduction of their China-developed TD-SCDMA standard into our industry-leading mobile phone tester. With significant 3G expansion expected within China in 2007, partly in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, we are positioned well to participate in the continued evolution of this market.๏ฟฝ ๏ฟฝAdditionally, we recently introduced a testing product through our Noise Com business unit for emerging High Definition Radio products. With the majority of these products being manufactured and tested in China, we are strategically positioned to play a strong role in this developing market and anticipate the continued opportunity to support the manufacture of such advanced electronic devices in China.๏ฟฝ Eckehard Mielke, Managing Director of Willtek Communications, added, ๏ฟฝWe have recently received orders for our 4400 tester to be used in the production of GSM mobile phones from two Chinese customers, one of which was a new customer. These orders are further evidence of China๏ฟฝs trust in Willtek๏ฟฝs ability to provide strategic turnkey solutions for wireless handset production. Remaining cognizant to the needs for both flexibility and low overall cost, we are pleased to introduce our TD-SCDMA test capability as an integrated option into our highly successful product.๏ฟฝ Willtek๏ฟฝs TD-SCDMA capability is planned for commercial availability within December.
