"In addition to getting plenty of exercise, I take USANA's
nutritional products. Not only do they contain the nutrients I need
to excel, but it's delivered in a format that's easy for the body
to process and use," says Jack Roush,
Jr. "I personally believe in the products USANA makes, and
I'm proud to promote them as a sponsor of our race team."
Roush, Jr. began his racing career in go-karts at the age of six
in 1979, clearly displaying his "drive" to compete in racing. An
extremely talented and versatile racer, Roush, Jr. has also
participated in the NMRA drag racing series behind the wheel of a
ROUSH Performance R&D car.
"There are unique physical challenges to racing cars that people
don't think about," says Dan Macuga,
vice president of marketing, public relations and social media.
"Physical conditioning and nutritional support are instrumental to
competitive athletes' performance, and we're thrilled to sponsor
such a talented team."
Billy Johnson made his racing
debut in 2000 at the age of 13 racing go-karts, like his partner,
Roush, Jr. In 2003, Billy moved into auto racing after winning the
Skip Barber Racing School scholarship. In the 2004 Formula BMW
season, Billy finished fifth in the championship as well as
received the Sportsman of the Year award.
"It's difficult to describe what we as drivers go though," says
Billy Johnson. "Inside the car
temperatures can reach up to 140 degrees F and it's as physically
demanding as running on a treadmill in this heat. These extreme
temperatures in conjunction with our three-layer fire suits are
incredibly hard on our bodies. I've been an avid believer and user
of USANA products for the past six years now and USANA has been an
important component of my physical performance and driving
success."
In June 2011, teammates Billy and
Roush, Jr. took 1st place in round six of the 2011 Continental Tire
Sports Car Challenge in their No. 61 ROUSH Performance Ford
Mustang. The pair led 30 laps, including the final 19 to bring home
a win.
"The ROUSH Performance road racing team is constantly looking to
gain a competitive advantage," says Jack
Roush, Jr. "For us, racing performance is more than the
performance of the race car, but human performance of the drivers
and pit crew too."
