What will kids ask about money? Are they concerned about savings? SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BACKGROUND: The current recession has prompted bankers as well as educators to realize the importance of what some call "financial literacy," the tools that enable consumers to better understand - and cope with - the pressures of the economy. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20010807/CMALOGO) Banks across the country - including Comerica Bank - are presenting workshops on financial literacy - teaching the basics of money management, credit, and budgets - for seniors, small-business owners, families and college students. In Oakland, Comerica Bank is reaching even younger. At the time when they are getting classroom lessons about money and counting, second-graders from Lincoln Elementary will get an in-bank lesson in money fundamentals at the Comerica Bank banking center, 12th & Broadway, four blocks from the award-winning inner-city school. On Monday, Dec. 14, approximately 100 Lincoln Elementary students will visit Comerica Bank, 1200 Broadway, Oakland, where they will receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the full-service banking center, plus an "It's Fun to Save" lesson. The Lincoln students will get a chance to ask Comerica bankers, in both English and Chinese, questions about money and banks. The school is predominantly Chinese-American, and the bank's bilingual staff will answer students' questions. MEDIA OPPORTUNITY: Watch and listen to second-graders ask questions and talk about money - and how to save it and spend it wisely.
