                           AGM STATEMENT

I   reported  in  the  1998  Financial  Statements  that  with  the
restructuring  programme  complete  we  had  a  good  platform  for
sustained  future  growth.  The basis of that belief stems from the
excellent  order  book we have now secured.  Unexecuted orders have
grown  by 50% since the year-end and currently stand at #48 million
of  which  #35  million  is defence related, with approximately one
third deliverable in following years.

Reflecting  the  timing  of  sales, the first half operating profit
performance  will  be  similar to last year s.  Against the current
healthy  order  book a strong performance is expected in the second
half.
