Unfortunately I think GS and a number of other banks paid their loans back too and still had to repurchase the warrants back at whatever price the government said more or less. I just don’t know that we can get away with absolutely 0 dilution. If there isn’t dilution what is the governments reason to bother releasing them if they aren’t unlocking a few billion for themselves.

In AIG case, the warrants were sold back to AIG. This will allow UST to make some profit with minimum dilution to shareholders. GSEs are different in that they have fully repaid their loans. 

The warrants were only a backstop for the Gov’s $189 billion in case the GSE’s went BK or couldn’t repay them! They should be able to convert them and sell them. I feel they will try to sell some of the SPSA or all. I don’t see how they can cash in the warrants.

The SPS should be zeroed out. Warrants at 100,000 shares for a single $ is illegal. Don’t know why you keep pimping the warrants. STOP ALREADY.

Warrants should be canselled and we should push for that. Now to have Fannie print more shares and sell them to have enough money in reserves and some for a rany day I'm ok with.

I read it somewhere a few years ago. The free warrants are just-in-case measure to ensure government is in control if the GSEs go bankrupt. Now that the GSEs have fully repaid their bailouts, I don't see any reason for UST to exercise the warrants. Maybe UST can sell the warrants back to the GSEs, as an alternative. UST did the same to AIG. 

And above all warrants are noncumulative . With the exception of one class.

They are so illegal that they extended the use date on them. So irrelevant. And the Gov is/has been so fair in all this for all these yrs. And warrants are a form of capitol raise say if all preferreds get paid with interest.

It was the loudest, longest fireworks display I have ever heard (this being at a country club Nats was not allowed close enough to see anything). If I knew that this was coming, I could have gotten DC Grannie to go up there with a sign with something like "Free my Fannie!" I would have had to check the sign to make sure that the words were not reversed before she went, although that may have gotten us more attention.

Fireworks at Trump National - They just finished the fireworks at Trump National a few minutes ago. Of course, no local announcement to tell folks in advance. The purpose of the fireworks were to kick off the inaugural celebration and the second was to wake those of us who fell asleep on the couch at halftime of the Commanders playoff game so we can see the second half. Although DC Grannie complained about the noise as she had gone to bed I told her - it may sound like fireworks to you, but as a GSE investor, it sounds like money to me.

The warrants are an illegal gift from one government agency to another. I cannot legally give Rick a warrant for $5 for all your worldly possessions. That’s what FHFA did.

All major institutions and pension funds were invested in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They DON’T need the warrants executed to reinvest in them. Anyone who says otherwise is a LIAR.

If the government wants to earn as much money as possible with the warrants, the price must be as high as possible as soon as the SPS are canceled. That's why the NYSE is the first place that pension funds, among others, can buy in.

I should add I remember in an interview Calabria said the "should not expect a large windfall or significant return on their investments,".....
