Western Union Brings Home the Gold with Four Prepaid Awards

Western Union, a leader in global payments, today announced that
it has won four separate awards for its stored-value programs.
The four awards are:
- A PayBefore Europe Best-in-Category
Award for “Best Prepaid Incentive, Reward, Rebate or Loyalty Card
Program” for the Western Union MyWU Prepaid Card;
- The Gold Medal PYMNTS.com Award for
“Best Prepaid Innovation,” recognizing the company’s rapid
expansion of its stored-value programs in 12 countries;
- The PayBefore Award for “Best
Network-Branded Gift Card,” a nod to the company’s unique “Gift and
Greeting Card” program in the U.S.;
- The Banking & Payments Asia
Trailblazer Award for “Product Excellence in Prepaid Payment” for
the introduction of general-purpose reloadable (GPR) accounts in
the Philippines and India.
Western Union received the Gold award for “Best Prepaid
Innovation” at PYMNTS.com’s Innovation Project in March at Harvard
University, where the company also announced the launch of the
Western Union® Global Share platform. The platform enables the
company to introduce new stored-value solutions in markets around
the world by joining forces with local companies. At the event,
Western Union also announced partnerships with six companies to
develop solutions to meet a variety of unmet needs.
All of the awards recognize Western Union’s continued excellence
in stored value innovation and the company’s uniquely tailored
solutions that meet unmet needs in the marketplace.
