WALTHAM, Mass., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of
a TECOCHILL® DTx 400 ton natural gas-powered chiller to
a new outpatient medical center currently under construction in New
York City. The highly efficient chiller will provide
reliable, cost-effective, chilled water for air conditioning the
15-story, approximately 200K square foot building.
The facility is pursuing LEED certification (Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design) and TECOCHILL's efficiency and low
emissions will significantly contribute to the LEED certification
point scoring system. In addition, the TECOCHILL unit features a
heat-recovery option that turns 'waste heat' into hot water for
domestic use.
"Being chosen to provide air conditioning for new construction
of an outpatient medical center in NYC, proves once again, that
Tecogen's reliable, cost-effective equipment is the right choice in
large urban environments such as Manhattan," said Robert Panora, President and COO of
Tecogen.
TECOCHILL units eliminate the portion of the electricity usage
associated with a facility's air-conditioning load and replace it
with low-cost summer natural gas. Also, punitive charges relating
to monthly peak demand are proportionately reduced.
