“Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County is looking forward to the impact of sports betting after the New York State Gaming Commission voted on regulations this week.

The practice, deemed legal by the Supreme Court a year ago, was approved for four upstate casinos.

Now county officials are hoping that will translate into more business for the facility. It's been operating with large deficits, but Sullivan County Partnership President Marc Baez said he's expecting sports betting to change that.

"We're hoping it's going to attract more people to the casino, different people that might not otherwise come for this particular reason,” said Resorts World Catskills President Marc Baez. “And expose them to other assets of Sullivan County that we certainly want people to come and cherish and participate in."

Each casino will need to obtain a wagering license in order for sports betting to begin.

That is expected to happen later this summer”

Because they didn't have Cappelli onboard. They got gready with Ken Lu and pushed him out. Back in 2008 it was full steam ahead with Cappeli and a 1 billion casnio resort with raceway. You should of seen the mountains of paper work and plans back then.

The casino in Monticello has been losing money like crazy. They just took a bunch of slots out of the casino. They are hoping the waterpark and golf course will help turn things around. Imo sports gambling is the only thing that can save this casino unfortunately. Imo they built the casino too high class and haven’t attracted the Asian tourists or NYC folks like they were hoping for.

Casino rejection

The defeat means casino gambling will remain legal only in Atlantic City, where voters approved it in 1976. The question cannot be placed on the ballot again for two years.

The defeat was expected after expansion backers ended a $10 million ad campaign believing that voters were opposed.

Because Cappelli is blocking it as he still has the rights. Last I heard they were ment to go 50/50 that's why he sold the land to them. He needed money but new in the future he work a deal . Not so as it all turns out

Yes, speaking about new retailers there when there is no gaming license yet. Glad I sold (mostly) out for (maybe) 2 years. This is a very s l o w operation...I need anesthesia, lol.

they hired a co to clear the lot...but still no gaming license!...........that's crazy, and ur looking @ 2 more years , minimum. Who wants to tie up money for 2-3 years? Man they r slow
