Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT), a leading electronic design
automation (EDA) solutions provider, today announced that the Civil
Aviation University of China (CAUC) has adopted an advanced
verification flow based on Mentor's DO-254 verification platform,
and has opened a new Mentor-CAUC joint laboratory for DO-254
applications, which is run by the Civil Aircraft Airworthiness
Certification Research Center of CAUC. As part of a mutual
agreement, Mentor has donated EDA software and support through its
Higher Education Program to enable the students of CAUC to graduate
with in-depth knowledge of leading-edge design methodologies.
CAUC (located in Tianjin, PRC) was established in 1951 and is
affiliated with the Civil Aviation Administration of PRC. CAUC is a
teaching and research intensive university. The university
cultivates high-level talent in engineering and management, and has
recently added the unique specialties of civil aviation and the
ability to integrate aeronautic science technology with traffic and
transportation engineering. It also has 29 research institutes,
covering almost all the disciplines, which focus extensively on
civil aircraft airworthiness certification, flight safety, aircraft
and engine failure diagnosis, economics for the civil aviation
industry, air transport management, information engineering, and
computer science. The Civil Aircraft Airworthiness Certification
Research Center is one of the professional research organizations
in CAUC, which is engaged in the research of certification of civil
aircraft, technical communications, and airworthiness training in
China.
"We firmly believe that this cooperation between CAUC and Mentor
will greatly enhance the development and verification capability in
airborne hardware," said BAI Jie, vice president of CAUC. "The
support of Mentor will educate us in modern methods of integrated
circuit (IC) design. And through our cooperation, Mentor will
certainly have a bigger influence in the aviation field in
China."
"Mentor uniquely offers a comprehensive set of chip to system
design and analysis solutions for the aviation industry, including
our DO-254 platform. We take the needs of the DO-254 market very
seriously and have been investing in, and enhancing, our DO-254
solutions for several years," said Michelle Lange, DO-254 program
manager at Mentor Graphics. "We are pleased to partner with the
CAUC, to support training the next generation of aeronautics
engineers on modern methods using the best tools available."
About Mentor's DO-254 Platform The Mentor
platform of tools supporting DO-254 compliance for FPGAs and ASICs
includes: the ReqTracer™ tool, which manages and traces device
requirements through development and verification activities; the
Vista™ tool, which delivers a platform for conceptual design; the
HDL Designer™ tool, which provides the environment for HDL
development, code checking, code visualizations, review assistance,
and structured project guidance; the ModelSim® tool, and the more
advanced verification capabilities offered by the Questa® platform,
which support requirements-based simulation of the HDL and netlist
models; and the 0-In® Clock-Domain Crossing (CDC) tool for
analysis. Formal methods tools include: the 0-In Formal
Verification tool for formal model checking; the FormalPro™ tool
for logical equivalency checking, to augment simulation; and the
Precision® Synthesis tool, which offers FPGA vendor-independent
synthesis, integration with place and route tools, and special
features to ensure accurate and safer netlist results. Mentor's PCB
and system level tools also provide a requirements-driven flow for
DO-254 compliance at higher levels of design. Mentor's expansive
DO-254 offering is unique in the industry. For more information,
