Technology stocks edged up Friday, as the Nasdaq Composite Index got back on track to scoring a third straight week of gains.

The Nasdaq (RIXF) held on firmly to a 0.4% gain at 1,992 at last check. The tech-heavy index briefly topped the 2,000 level Thursday for the first time since October.

The Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index (MSH) and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) each rose about 1%.

The sector took a hit from a decline in shares of NetSuite Inc. (N), which was off more than 10% after reporting a bigger second-quarter loss.

Major tech players posted gains, including Oracle Corp. (ORCL), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

Decliners included Yahoo Inc. (YHOO), eBay Inc. (EBAY) and Sun Microsystems (JAVA).
