HUNT VALLEY, Md., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Industrial Corporation (NYSE:UIC) announced today that its AAI Corporation defense subsidiary has received from the U.S. Army its first full-rate production contract for 51 One System remote video terminals (OSRVTs) and 38 extended- range antennas that will link critical intelligence from multiple unmanned or manned aircraft systems directly to at-risk ground forces. Value of the not-to-exceed contract is $3.9 million and includes immediate funding of $1.4 million. Deliveries will occur between November 2006 and September 2007. AAI will also provide spares, training, and contractor logistics support. OSRVTs are small, mobile, intelligence-gathering systems capable of receiving and integrating live video and telemetry data from an array of manned and unmanned aircraft systems, including Shadow(R), Predator(R), I- GNAT(R), Raven, Pioneer(R), and Hunter. "Our One System remote video terminals shorten the battlefield communications chain, delivering real-time intelligence and situational awareness from aircraft directly to warfighters facing threats on the ground," said Steven E. With OSRVT, soldiers simultaneously receive live video and geo-location data in integrated windows on their small, lightweight video terminals. The video "footprint" and icons identify aggressor units, vehicles, facilities, and natural landscape features overlaid on a geo-location map, enabling swift target identification, decision making, and response. Extended-range antennas enable the OSRVT systems to meet mission range requirements with reception up to 80 kilometers.
