Calvert Research and Management (Calvert) announced today the first contribution in the amount of $25,000 from Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. (MSIM) to America Needs You (ANY), an organization focused on driving economic mobility for first-generation college students. The contribution is part of MSIM’s effort to donate annually to diversity, equity and inclusion-related organizations from its own resources in connection with the Calvert US Large-Cap Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Index ETF (NYSE Arca: CDEI).

Von Hughes, Managing Director and head of Calvert expressed his support for the MSIM contribution noting that ANY is a natural choice because the organization embodies the Calvert Principles for Responsible Investing (the Calvert Principles).

“We believe that a more diverse workforce provides a wider range of viewpoints, backgrounds and skills and positions companies for greater long-term success,” said Mr. Hughes. “We are pleased that investor interest in CDEI created an opportunity to support ANY in its mission of providing transformative mentorship, career development and broad support for first-generation college students and recent graduates to increase workplace diversity across industries.”

CDEI seeks to track the performance of the Calvert US Large-Cap Diversity Research Index, which is composed of common stocks of large companies that operate their businesses in a manner consistent with the Calvert Principles. CDEI offers investors exposure to companies that Calvert believes are successfully managing diversity, equity and inclusion issues and is backed by Calvert’s proprietary research.

CDEI is one of six Calvert-branded ETFs available on the MSIM ETF platform, which launched in 2023. Additional offerings include one Parametric-branded alternative income strategy, one Parametric-branded hedged equity strategy, and seven Eaton Vance-branded fixed income strategies for which MSIM serves as investment adviser.

Morgan Stanley is a longtime supporter of ANY, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that fights for economic mobility for ambitious, first-generation college students. In addition, ANY is a strategic community partner in the Morgan Stanley Institute for Inclusion’s Equity in Education and Career Consortium. Over the last 15 years, ANY has provided mentorship and intensive career development training to over 6,000 low-income, first-generation college students through its local Fellows Program in four states and its digital program, FirstGenU. Each year, over 90% of Fellows served by ANY complete internships and graduate from college and nearly 80% secure a full-time job with a competitive salary within six months of earning their diploma.

Funds are subject to market risk, which is the possibility that the market values of securities owned by the portfolio will decline and that the value of portfolio shares may therefore be less than what you paid for them. Investing primarily in responsible investments carries the risk that, under certain market conditions, the Portfolio may underperform portfolios that do not utilize a responsible investment strategy. An investment's ESG performance, or Calvert's assessment of such performance may change over time, which could cause the Portfolio to temporarily hold securities that do not comply with the Portfolio's responsible investment criteria.
