Mercer Appoints Mike Ross as North America Health & Benefits Region Bus. Leader for Consumer/Benefits Administration Solutions

In a move designed to strengthen its US businesses that affect individual consumers, Mercer announced the appointment of Michael J. Ross as North America Health & Benefits Region Business Leader for its Consumer/Benefits Administration Solutions business, effective September 3.

As Region Business Leader, Mr. Ross will be responsible for the management of call center services for Mercer Marketplace, Mercer’s private benefits exchange, along with the company’s Voluntary and Associations business based in Urbandale, Iowa, and its Health & Benefits Administration business based in Iowa City, Iowa, and Brecksville, Ohio.

“Mike brings to Mercer an in-depth knowledge of the global insurance industry, having spent more than 20 years building and leading businesses in the US, Europe, and Asia for several of the strongest players in the industry. He has extensive experience in affinity marketing, direct-to-consumer channels, and individual insurance products,” said David Rahill, President of Mercer’s Health & Benefits Business.

Mr. Ross will be based in Urbandale, Iowa, and report jointly to Mr. Rahill and Ms. Milligan.

He joins Mercer from Cigna, where he most recently was responsible for launching the company’s individual private medical insurance business. Prior to joining Cigna in 2005, Mr. Ross held senior positions in Tokyo with Citigroup and American International Group. He began his insurance career in 1981 with Cigna in the US, England, Sweden, and Canada.

Mr. Ross holds an MBA and bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University.
