John Koob Joins Mercer’s Human Capital Consulting Business in the Firm’s Central Market

John Koob joins Mercer’s Human Capital consulting business in
its Central Market, effective immediately. In this new role as
Partner, Mr. Koob will have responsibility for building
relationships with Mercer’s clients and prospects, with a primary
focus on clients within the energy industry. He will be based in
Houston, TX.
Mr. Koob brings more than 20 years of human resource and human
capital leadership experience in HR function strategy and
operations, people strategy, mergers & acquisitions, workforce
planning, succession management, leadership development,
onboarding, global mobility, performance systems, career
development, employee engagement, change management, executive and
employee compensation and benefits. His experience comes from both
domestic and international operations having lived, worked and
consulted extensively in Latin Amercia, Africa, Europe, Asia and
Asia Pac.

team well as he leads growth for our Human Capital business in this

Prior to joining Mercer, Mr. Koob held several HR leadership
roles at Mobil Oil, PepsiCo and Textron. During his 10+ years with
Mobil Oil, he worked in the US, Europe and Africa in various HR
leadership roles and across several business segments. While with
Mobil Africa S.A., he was the General Manager of HR for the
continent and focused primarily on transforming the HR function
while working with leadership to enhance the performance of country
business units while leading the design and implementation of
critical human capital initiatives to build the future leadership
cadre of African leaders and to create a highly engaged and
productive workforce.
Most recently, Mr. Koob was Senior Vice President, Global HR
with Mylan Labs. In that role, he led the development and
implementation of the global people strategy, the global human
resource function transformation strategy and the development of
all human capital programs for a global workforce. Mr. Koob
previously worked at Mercer where he had Southeast US regional
leadership responsibility for Mercer’s Human Capital Operations
& Technology Solutions business. He was also leader of Mercer’s
M&A business in the same region.
Mr. Koob received a Master’s Certificate in Industrial &
Labor Relations from Cornell University. He attended Ithaca College
where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He
has also been published in Mergers & Acquisitions, World at
Work and Workforce Management magazines.
